General Tour Information

  • Tours are for a standard group size of 8 participants.
  • Flights arrive/depart Johannesburg, South Africa. Overnight accommodation for one night DBB (on arrival) at an up-market hotel near OR Tambo Airport is included in tour prices. Additional overnight accommodation at the end of the tour together with local excursions can be arranged on request at an extra charge.
  • Prices include transport in comfortable mini-buses, DBB accommodation (some lunches may be included at establishments offering full board), Park and reserve entry fees (where applicable), additional excursions (game drives and boat cruises), airport transfers in Johannesburg and the services of 1 – 2 South African driver/guides and 1 x South African birding guide book per person.
  • Tour prices exclude all drinks and alcoholic beverages, telephone calls, mobile phone hire and calls, laundry, mini bar bills, room service, additional excursions not mentioned in itineraries, curios and souvenirs, tips and gratuities, all personal purchases and similar extras of whatsoever nature.
  • Tours must be booked and the deposit paid at least 60 days prior to arrival in South Africa. The balance of the amount due is required at least 30 days prior to arrival in South Africa. Our terms & conditions will be e-mailed to you on enquiry.
  • Flights are not included – you will need to book your own flights with your local travel agent. Direct flights to Johannesburg can also be booked on the Internet with South African Airways (www.flysaa.com). A variety of international airlines also serve OR Tambo (Johannesburg) International Airport.
  • Flights at the end of the tour from Richards Bay to OR Tambo (Johannesburg) Airport are not included in tour prices due to tariff fluctuations.  When you have booked your tour provisionally, you will be advised of the cost of this flight for the relevant tour dates.  Payment in full for this flight must be made at the same time as your deposit for the tour is paid to ensure availability as the airline servicing these route uses smaller aeroplanes and seats are limited.
  • Check with your local South African consulate as to visa requirements. “Lifers & Twitchers” shall not be responsible for arranging visas and other travel documents for tour participants.
